Measuring instruments that are put into circulation on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan in series or imported in batches and used in the sphere of state metrological control are subject to type approval.

Tests for the purposes of type approval of measuring instruments produced in series are carried out at the request of the manufacturer or a legal entity or individual authorized by the manufacturer, who, on the basis of documentary confirmation with the manufacturer on behalf of this manufacturer, carry out actions upon the release of measuring instruments into circulation on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, responsible for the compliance of the produced measuring instruments with metrological and technical requirements.

The decision to approve the type of measuring instruments is made by the authorized body for technical regulation and metrology based on positive test results and is certified by a certificate of approval of the type of measuring instruments of the established form.
The validity period of the certificate of approval of the type of measuring instruments produced in series is determined by the decision of the authorized body for a period of 5 years.
The validity period of the type approval certificate for a batch of measuring instruments is indefinite.
Tests of measuring instruments for compliance with the approved type are carried out before the expiration of the type approval certificate in the event of:
Negative results of verification carried
out under state metrological control
out under state metrological control
Modifications of measuring instruments
of the approved type
of the approved type
Need to extend the validity period of the certificate
of approval of the type of measuring instruments
of approval of the type of measuring instruments
When approving a type for measuring instruments that have software, certification of the software of the measuring instruments is carried out in the manner established in ST RK 2.46. Approval of one type of measuring instruments applies to measuring instruments of the same type, manufactured by one manufacturer.
Tests for the purpose of type approval, approval of a batch type and for compliance with the approved type of measuring instruments are carried out by the State Scientific Medical Center, including using the material and technical base of accredited testing, verification/calibration laboratories of the Republic of Kazakhstan and third countries.
To conduct tests of measuring instruments for the purposes of type approval, for compliance with the approved type and for the purposes of type approval of a batch, in the presence of a representative of the applicant, samples of measuring instruments are selected by random sampling in the quantity established by the standard test program, but not less than three samples, not more than one year of manufacture.
If the results of the tests are positive, the applicant is issued:
- Approved test program (if a test program is developed)
- Approved verification methodology (in case of development of verification methodology)
- Description of the type of measuring instruments
- Test report for measuring instruments
- Type Approval Certificate
- Measuring instruments and verification methods are registered in the register of the State Measurement System of the Republic of Kazakhstan
- If the results are negative, a notice of unsuitability of the measuring instrument is issued.
Tests for the purposes of type approval of a batch of measuring instruments are carried out at the request of an interested legal entity or individual. Based on positive test results, a certificate of type approval of measuring instruments is issued indicating the factory numbers or ranges of factory numbers.
